Adrian had been planning on working late tonight, so I started out the day with the hopes of just passing the time. We had a lazy morning- we didn't get dressed and ready to leave the house until 11. We went to the library and picked up our holds (and returned Roman Holiday w/o being able to watch it- oops! I guess I'll have to put that one on hold again). I'm going through a list "100 books your child should have read to him/her before going to kindergarten" or something to that effect. Pretty good ones so far- "the mitten", "animals should definitely not wear clothing", "madeline", and "happy birthday moon". Elise always has so much fun at the library- she loves the puppet theater and her favorite puppets are an elaborate peacock and a shark. Christian has fun there too, but he's hard to keep corralled while we read stories, so when we're kinda in a hurry I leave him strapped into the stroller.
OK, so that filled my morning nicely! Then we went home and made lunch, and it was rest time. Elise doesn't sleep most of the time (sometimes she surprises me), but I think it's good for her to have a quiet time in the middle of the day. Not to mention the obvious fact that I need it! :)
After rest time Elise had a gymnastics/dance class. In February we're switching to just dance, because I feel like the combo class doesn't offer enough of either sport. It was a good thing to start with, though, because we found out that Elise prefers dance. We'll see after the new class starts whether she stays as interested in dance!
The class was over at 5:15, and since I'd brought snacks for the kids with me, I thought I could get away with going to Costco to waste more time (and I *always* have a costco list running). WRONG! *That* was the whiney-est shopping trip of all time! Holy Cow! I'll never go in the evening around dinner time again- snacks or no. They really wore me down.
They both made up for it this evening, though, by being so sweet I couldn't believe it. Christian was a cheerful little snuggle bug and Elise was a loving little sweetie pie. I guess they were both just so glad to be home with real food in them! Oh btw, I made a great fake indian dish- chicken cooked with enchilada sauce, garlic and curry powder, then served with butter spray (I bet it'd be really good w/sour cream, too). So weird how well that turned out. It's on my diet, too- yay!
I was so tired, but I had to set up Elise's Ariel aquarium... the water needs to condition for a week before you can add a fish (which I need to get before Christmas).
Done! The house is a mess, it's 10:30 and Adrian's still not home yet... oh well! I think I'll sit and read my book and drink a diet a&w! Good night! :)
